Job summary

**14 month Fixed Term Contract - Apprenticeship**

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard qualification within the duration of the placement.

This exciting post will allow the successful candidate to gain experience and knowledge in a wide range of activities. The post holder will assist with administration and this will include dealing with telephone enquiries, recording referrals, booking appointments, clinical typing and organising patient's notes in order to ensure our clinics run smoothly, photocopying, filing and general office duties.

The Podiatry team are part of the Endocrinology & Diabetes department which is based on level 3 in the East Outpatients block. We area dynamic area that is expanding to meet popular demand. The department supports a full range of specialist and general clinical services.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care.

Main duties of the job

As post holder, you will:
  • Provide high quality administration service to the Podiatry Team.
  • Have excellent communication skills and will need confidence when dealing with service users over the telephone.
  • Handle patient notes and information on a daily basis so you will be expected to have a high level of confidentiality. You may be asked to take and collect patient notes across the hospital site.
  • Need good data entry and IT skills.
  • Be able to prioritise your workload and work on the departmental database systems.
  • Be a good team player is a must and you will uphold the Trust's PRIDE valuesof People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must be:
  • Aged 16+
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years
  • Must not have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above
  • Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education upon the start of their apprenticeship

Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Good general standard of education
  • 4 GCSE's at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent)
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills
