We can’t wait to see what you can do with us.
Level 6 Applied Professional Engineering Programme Degree Apprenticeship
Our Level 6 Applied Professional Engineering Programme Degree Apprenticeship is aimed at those with a passion for learning and innovation. Ambitious, innovative and determined people who respect our heritage and can think beyond the challenges of today to build the cars of tomorrow.
Internal combustion engines have dominated automotive propulsion since cars were introduced, but we are reimagining the future. While continuing to refine the quality of our combustion engines, we are expanding into electrification, catering to the demands of today and the future. As an Applied Professional Engineering Degree Apprentice, you will become a multi-disciplinary engineer, developing digital technology solutions for modern luxury vehicles that are renowned for their desirability and performance.
Manufacturing pathway
Manufacturing is at the very heart of Jaguar Land Rover, with thousands of vehicles being produced every day across our production facilities. Here you will have the opportunity to influence the future of manufacturing. This apprenticeship is for people with a passion for learning and a pioneering mindset: ambitious, innovative and determined individuals who respect our heritage and can think beyond the challenges of today to build the cars of tomorrow. With a blend of hands-on experience and qualifications to target, you will work on projects that are fundamental to our global success. As an apprentice in the Manufacturing pathway, you could be based within any of the following functions: Engineering Operations (EO), Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) or Purchasing – Supplier Technical Assistance (STA).
Engineering Operations (EO) – Gaydon and Whitley
Working in EO, you’ll be involved at every stage of the engineering process. You will build your technical expertise while working on some of the most advanced technologies in a supportive environment where you can make a real difference.
Operating alongside experienced colleagues, you will develop skills and experience in a range of areas including Electric Driving Units (EDUs) and battery technology, experiencing all aspects of build and end-of-line test processes to deliver quality prototype batteries in a safe and sustainable way. What’s more, you will gain expertise in people management, KPI visualisation and much more, enabling you to become a rounded and capable engineer.
Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) – Ryton & Fen End
Our SVO team offers a stimulating environment for innovative minds, giving you the chance to develop and launch world-class SV-branded Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles that exemplify our key characteristics of performance, luxury and capability.
The SVO division is where bespoke craftsmanship, precision and innovation come together to meet the demands of our diverse VIP customers. We are constantly seeking to reach new heights of luxury and performance to create a feeling like no other, and you will become a core member of our team.
You will help us explore the application of new technologies that will enhance performance, capability and luxury personalisation. In the process, you will develop deep understanding of Agile manufacturing methodologies and all aspects of component engineering – giving you everything you need to succeed.
Purchasing – Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) – Gaydon, with frequent travel to Jaguar Land Rover sites and suppliers
Our STA team is responsible for supplier quality throughout our vehicle portfolio, interacting with every part that goes into our cars. Starting in our manufacturing plants, you’ll work closely with our supplier base, focusing on projects to improve part quality and learning the fundamentals of manufacturing and problem-solving. As you progress through your apprenticeship, you will enjoy the opportunity to focus on part quality approval and supplier management and develop the skills to progress your career.
As well as gaining technical knowledge in general engineering, you will learn to build and maintain relationships with key contacts within the supply base and across the Jaguar Land Rover community. This could mean involvement in anything from dealing with supplier queries to developing innovative supplier processes for new products.
Your Education Provider
As part of your Apprenticeship, you will study for a BEng in Applied Professional Engineering with the University of Warwick (WMG).
Over the first three years of your Apprenticeship, you will study a range of modules designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive as an engineering professional. A network of apprentice tutors and line managers will regularly review your progress and offer advice to support you in performing at your best.
These modules are taught throughout the academic year by Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), a key part of the University. You will benefit from a mix of lectures, practical laboratory assignments, seminars and tutorials delivered in person and online, and will enjoy access to a virtual learning environment for further support.
In your final year, you will undertake a work-based project that also forms part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). On successful completion of your EPA, you will achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship – and will be ready for an amazing career with Jaguar Land Rover.
