Hybrid working is potentially available, depending on the area and manager.

Jaguar Land Rover is a multi-site business and you’ll be required to spend time working with different departments at several locations. Once you’ve successfully completed your apprenticeship, you can look forward to a long-term career with us. The role you take on will depend on your performance, personal preferences and business needs.

We are the future of modern luxury

We are the pioneers creating the next-generation of outstanding vehicles, founded on modern luxury. Each and every one of us are shaping the exceptional with soul. We are reimagining the driving of tomorrow and redefining what’s possible.

We are the future of movement.

We can’t wait to see what you can do with us.

Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship

Our Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeships are aimed at people who have a passion for learning and innovation. Ambitious, innovative and determined people who respect our heritage and can think beyond the challenges of today to build the cars of tomorrow.

Increasingly automated. Ever more sophisticated. This is the future our vision holds for our vehicles. As a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice, you will implement technology solutions, aligned to your pathway, to develop new products and services and increase productivity using digital technologies. Jaguar Land Rover is a world leader in engineering – we make incredible luxury vehicles. Our aspirations are no different for Digital & Technology. Our people, our teams and our culture are at the heart of everything we do. We are natives of the agile and “DevOps” world and are here to solve complex technical challenges.

Software Engineering pathway

Software is a key component of our future cars as the technology in vehicles continues to increase to meet customers’ evolving needs. Before the customer enters the car, technology identifies the key fob and their phone to recognise them and allow access; during their journey, software aids their driving with stability and assistance systems and provides a welcoming and refined user experience through in-vehicle infotainment. In short, software gives us our edge. It makes our thinking come alive in the real world. This pathway will show you how to design, build and test ground-breaking software that really delivers. You’ll also learn how to integrate engineering principles that deliver superior analysis, development and built-in security.

Along the way, you could work in any of the following Product Engineering functional areas: Engineering Body Chassis (EBC), Digital Products Platform (DPP), Engineering Powertrain (EP), Engineering Operations (EO) or Engineering Research (ER). You could also be based within our Digital team. You will be asked to indicate your preference during the application process.

Engineering Body Chassis (EBC) – Gaydon

The EBC team is responsible for most of what you see and touch in our cars. We work closely with design studios to translate award-winning concepts into engineering reality, factoring in performance, manufacturability, sustainability, cost and weight. Our remit spans lids, doors, structures, cabin and safety, cockpit, climate, seats, exteriors, lighting, glazing and roofs. In short, we provide everything necessary for a great driving experience, including motion control systems for every situation.

As an apprentice within EBC, you will learn the tools, engineering methodologies and techniques to create and optimise cutting-edge engineering solutions, with significant exposure to both new and current products.

Digital Products Platform (DPP) – Gaydon

Our DPP team uses iterative and concurrent engineering approaches to deliver real innovation, harnessing a wealth of techniques including model-based software development and directly writing code. You will develop technology that will enhance our customers’ lives and transform the way they interface with their cars. In particular, you could find yourself supporting the design and development of key projects within the assisted and automated driving teams, creating the software of the future.

You will quickly gain expertise in cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality-based user testing via multi-axial simulators (MAS), learn all about human-machine interfaces, discover how to prototype models rapidly and build knowledge of modelling and simulation software – giving you everything you need to accelerate your career.

Engineering Powertrain (EP) – Whitley or Gaydon

Responsible for designing and developing world class engines, transmissions, drivelines and electric motors, our EP team is the driving force behind our vehicles. In today’s connected world, software is central to everything they do. Through our in-house software development, we directly influence customers’ experiences every time they drive our cars. Utilising our Agile methodology, automated tool chain and over-the-air deployment, your work will impact real customers right from the start. From day one, you will work on live projects with the support of your team, which could include low-level software development for high voltage chargers, DevOps pipeline development and battery management software algorithm development.

Engineering Operations (EO) – Gaydon

EO underpins technical innovation and product delivery with engineering expertise, tools and processes, and specialist technical services to create our world-class products. We are fundamentally involved at every stage of the engineering process, and we’re driving an exciting transformation in the way we engineer and deliver our products with class leading technology and quality.

You will find yourself at the heart of everything we do with software, including coding, simulation, data acquisition, artificial intelligence and robotics, utilising solutions such as Python. Whether you focus on mechatronic solutions for system testing, assist the Battery Test Lab with programming, act as a Digital Vehicle Engineer or deliver complex Powertrain automation systems and workflows, you will enjoy a steep learning curve and have real impact on our current and future vehicles.

Engineering Research (ER) – National Automotive Innovation Centre, Warwick University

In ER, we are looking into the future as we identify unmet customer needs and evaluate the technology landscape to deliver innovative products and services. In reimagining the future of movement, we’re putting software engineers in the driving seat, where they can steer advancing technology in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), infotainment or electric propulsion.

You could focus on Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Metaverse, Hardware and Mechatronics, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Human Machine Interface (HMI), software development, Computer Aided-Design and Engineering (CAD & CAE), Human Science, systems engineering, sustainability, metallics, composites, polymers, chassis and transmission, strategy, project management – or much, much more.

Digital – Gaydon

Software gives us our edge. It makes our thinking come alive in the real world. Our technology teams are building a next-generation digital platform that will provide drivers and passengers with a truly connected ecosystem. By using leading-edge cloud technology and the latest DevOps techniques, we’re getting incredible experiences into our customers’ hands faster and better.

You will have a central role to play in delivering the technology and services for our vehicles as you assist with the deployment, monitoring and support of our cloud infrastructure. Working with cutting-edge technologies in a public cloud environment, you will develop scripting and programming skills to deploy and support key infrastructure and configurations. As an apprentice within our Digital team, you will have a unique opportunity to gain expertise in modern development methodologies and processes whilst enjoying personal development and accreditation.

Your Education Provider

As part of your apprenticeship, you will study for a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions with the University of Warwick (WMG).

Over the first three years of your apprenticeship, you will study a range of modules designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive as a technology professional. You’ll contribute to the business in your assigned role, as well as undertake additional study in your own time, to achieve your academic award. A network of apprentice tutors and line managers will regularly review your progress and offer advice to support you in performing at your best.

For the first two years, you will study a range of core subjects, with pathway specialisms in years three and four. Modules are taught in week-long blocks throughout the academic year by Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), part of the University of Warwick. You will benefit from a mix of lectures, practical laboratory assignments, seminars and tutorials delivered in person and online, and enjoy access to a virtual learning environment for further support.

In the final year, you will undertake a work-based project that also forms part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). On successful completion of your EPA, you will achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship – and will be ready for an amazing career with Jaguar Land Rover.
