Hybrid working is potentially available, depending on the area and manager.
Jaguar Land Rover is a multi-site business and you’ll be required to spend time working with different departments at several locations. Once you’ve successfully completed your apprenticeship, you can look forward to a long-term career with us. The role you take on will depend on your performance, personal preferences and business needs.
We are the future of modern luxury
We are the pioneers creating the next-generation of outstanding vehicles, founded on modern luxury. Each and every one of us are shaping the exceptional with soul. We are reimagining the driving of tomorrow and redefining what’s possible.
We are the future of movement.
We can’t wait to see what you can do with us.
Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship
Our Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeships are aimed at people who have a passion for learning and innovation. Ambitious, innovative and determined people who respect our heritage and can think beyond the challenges of today to build the cars of tomorrow.
Increasingly automated. Ever more sophisticated. This is the future our vision holds for our vehicles. As a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice, you will implement technology solutions, aligned to your pathway, to develop new products and services and increase productivity using digital technologies. Jaguar Land Rover is a world leader in engineering – we make incredible luxury vehicles. Our aspirations are no different for Digital & Technology. Our people, our teams and our culture are at the heart of everything we do. We are natives of the agile and “DevOps” world and are here to solve complex technical challenges.
Software with Data Pathway
The automobile is becoming more and more reliant on software each year. Before the customer enters the car, it identifies the key fob and their phone to recognise them and allow access; during their journey, software aids their driving with stability and assistance systems and provides a welcoming and refined user experience through in-vehicle infotainment. As a result, you will continually enhance your expertise to create the millions of lines of code new innovations demand, translating data into demand and meeting our customers’ needs by reinventing and rejuvenating our products and services.
As a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice on the Software with Data pathway, you could work within our Digital Products Platform (DPP), Engineering Quality (EQ) or Digital teams. You will be asked to indicate your preference during the application process.
Digital Products Platform (DPP) – Gaydon
Our DPP team uses iterative and concurrent engineering approaches to deliver real innovation, harnessing a wealth of techniques including model-based software development and directly writing code. You will develop technology that will enhance our customers’ lives and transform the way they interface with their cars. In particular, you could find yourself supporting the design and development of key projects within the assisted and automated driving teams, creating the software of the future.
You will quickly gain expertise in cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality-based user testing via multi-axial simulators (MAS), learn all about human-machine interfaces, discover how to prototype models rapidly, and build knowledge of modelling and simulation software – giving you everything you need to accelerate your career.
Engineering Quality – Solihull
Our Electrical team is part of our wider Engineering Quality Programme Vehicle team and is responsible for delivering new models and setting electrical engineering quality to achieve world class performance levels. Acting as the interface between the Core Electrical Engineering Team and Manufacturing, the team collaborates with diverse stakeholders throughout the pre-production and build phases and supports launches. As a result, you will quickly gain the skills to diagnose and resolve complex vehicle issues and provide technical support into investigations, assisting us in getting things right first time, every time.
This is a particularly valuable specialism, giving you deep understanding of vehicle systems and architectures, and engineers in this area are in very high demand across Jaguar Land Rover.
Digital - Gaydon
As a member of the Digital team, you will assist with the deployment, monitoring and support of our data platform and work with modern technologies in a public cloud environment. You will practise your scripting and programming skills and gain an understanding of the different ways data can be managed, stored and ultimately consumed, using application programming interfaces (APIs), data science investigations and reporting tools. This will give you real insight into working in an agile environment (Scrum methodology) and the use of industry standard tools such as JIRA.
Your Education Provider
As part of your apprenticeship, you will study for a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions with the University of Warwick (WMG).
Over the first three years of your apprenticeship, you will study a range of modules designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive as a technology professional. A network of apprentice tutors and line managers will regularly review your progress and offer advice to support you in performing at your best.
For the first two years, you will study a range of core subjects, with pathway specialisms in years three and four. Modules are taught in week-long blocks throughout the academic year by Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), part of the University of Warwick. You will benefit from a mix of lectures, practical laboratory assignments, seminars and tutorials delivered in person and online, and enjoy access to a virtual learning environment for further support.
In your final year, you will undertake a work-based project that also forms part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). On successful completion of your EPA, you will achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship – and will be ready for an amazing career with Jaguar Land Rover.
