Finance Assistant Apprentice

Babington, a leading provider of apprenticeships, professional training courses and learning solutions are supporting our client, a leading producer of the finest quality Scottish salmon operating over 60 sites across the West Coast of Scotland and Hebridean Islands. We employ over 600 people across our remote communities and are passionately committed to the environmental, cultural and economic sustainability of rural Scotland., to recruit for their next Finance Assistant, based in EDINBURGH.

As an apprentice, what will I be doing?

This is an exciting opportunity to start your career in Finance and your days will be varied and will include the following:

Candidates will be working in both the finance and payroll teams and will report to the finance manager. Day to day duties are as follows: Bank postings and monthly reconciliations, assisting the accounts payable/receivable teams with invoice processing and payments, assisting the finance team during month end reporting, assisting the payroll team and general ad hoc finance tasks.

Occasional home working, bonus scheme, cycle to work scheme available and opportunity to visit our fish farms in the stunning scenery of the West Coast of Scotland and Outer Hebrides.

Long term goal is for the candidate to progress onto to achieving a professional accountancy qualification and becoming a financial/management accountant.

 
What training will I undertake and what qualification will I get at the end?
SCQF Level 5 supported with a 121 coach and e-learning platform.

Functional Skills level 2 in Maths and English if required.

Are there any requirements for me to be considered?

• Higher – B in Maths and English
• Competent in maths and shows ability to problem solve in a pragmatic way.
• Willingness to learn and get stuck into all aspects of the finance function.
• Comfortable in a team environment and good social skills.
