Job Details

Do you want to help us connect the UK through the latest technology? Join us on our Technical Services Apprenticeship and you can study, learn and earn a professional qualification doing a job you love!

As a Technical Services Apprentice, you’ll join the team who are responsible for designing and deploying solutions for our business customers, gaining experience in our Internal Solution Architect or Provision Engineer teams. During your time on the scheme, you’ll gain experience in technologies, products and services across our portfolios, with the opportunity to specialise in a particular area later in your career.

Build skills for the future

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will gain hands on experience learning how to design and configure solutions to meet customer needs. You'll start the scheme off in the Core Activations team, getting to know our network and learning about the latest wide-area networking technologies that underpin our services.

As a Provisioning Engineer, you’ll configure and implement the service we offer. Responsibilities you could own include:

  • Validating designs and liaising with Sales/Solution Architect/Customer to discuss and collect post-sale low level configuration information.
  • Hands-on configuration of network devices.
  • Assisting our Fault Management Centre by identifying and resolving network issues.

Once you have this base knowledge, you’ll spend time with the Solutions Design team, collaborating with our Solution Architects, Sales colleagues and customers to understand their business needs and design solutions across our various product portfolios.

As an Internal Solution Architect, you’ll be responsible for the high-level customer solution design. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Developing solution design documents & schematics to demonstrate how we will deliver against customer outcomes.
  • Engaging with other support teams to ensure the design is fit for purpose, delivers in accordance with lead times and is supportable against our operational models and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

What we look for

We’re looking for individuals that aren’t afraid to question the way we work, who bring new ideas and fresh outlooks to the table. Accuracy is vital for this role as you’ll need to be able to complete tasks with a high level of detail, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed. Other qualities we’d like to see include:

  • Willingness to learn
  • Analytical & methodical approach
  • Computer literate

We’re 100% committed to having a workforce that represents every part of our society, so we’re keen to hear from candidates of all backgrounds and circumstances.

What’s in it for you

A starting salary of £23,000 with plenty of opportunities to progress throughout the scheme, with a permanent position upon successful completion of your apprenticeship. You’ll work towards a Level 4 Network Engineer qualification, gaining invaluable skills and experience along the way. Plus, you can enjoy our benefits, including:

  • 25 days holiday
  • Your birthday off every year
  • Employee discounts on mobile, broadband and TV services

...and loads more!

What is involved with studying for an apprenticeship?

Your apprenticeship is made up of learning on the job, but also gaining the academic skills to put into practice in your day-to-day job.  As a result, you'll complete the apprenticeship as part of a structured learning programme alongside working in the role. The learning programme is made up of a suite of modules and milestones and you’ll be required to evidence your work against these modules via tasks and assignments. For some apprenticeships, you may also undertake additional technical qualifications, which include studying for, and taking an exam. Once you have completed your modules and milestones, you’ll then move to your End Point Assessment (EPA) which is typically made up of an interview and a project. Once you pass this stage, you will receive your apprenticeship qualification with us.
