Description of Vacancy

We at Barham preschool are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team. We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to work and study in early years and has a passion for child care. We care for children aged 2-5 years and have a small team of 7. Training is provided with full time employee an option at the end of your studies. If you want to shape the minds of young children and get a messy little while doing it then we are the place for you.

  • To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0- 5years
  • To ensure that the setting is a safe environment for children, staff and others
  • To developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development
  • To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Nursery Manager
  • To complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship
  • To attend training
  • To complete all assignments set
  • To work as part of a team
  • To attend associated training
  • To liaise with mentor and assessor and prepare yourself for your assessment visits
  • To help to develop and maintain good relationships and communications with parents / teachers and nursery staff to facilitate day to day caring needs
  • Liaising with parents in an upbeat and friendly manner, maintaining eye contact and a smile
  • Introducing yourself to those you may not have met

Wage

£4.90 per hour with pay reviewed after probation period
30 hours per week £147 per week

Hours 

Monday 8.45-3.45 7 hours
Tuesday 8.45-3.45 7 hours
Wednesday Study day 4 hours
Thursday 8.45 – 3.45 7 hours
Friday 10.45-3.45 5 hours
Term time only
Hourly rate would depend on experience
20% paid time during working hours is given to complete training, referred to as "Off the Job Training"

Qualifications Required

GCSE Level 9-4 (or Grade A-C) in English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications in these subjects.

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard – This occupation is found in a range of private and public settings including; full day care, children’s centres, pre-schools, reception classes, playgroups, nursery schools, home based provision, hospitals, social care settings, out of school environments and local authority provision to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
