Who you’ll be working for:

The VoIP Shop are providers of cloud phone systems. They are currently looking to employ an apprentice to work within our growing Technical Support department based at the DOCK technology hub next to the National Space Centre in Leicester.

What’s in it for you:

As a Network Engineer Apprentice, you will be an important part of the department and day to day responsibilities will include remote fault logging and resolving, remote support of on-site system installs and maintenance, and long-term relationship building with both existing and new customers and suppliers. The position will report to our Support Manager.

You will have the full support of the first and second line support teams at Cisco and Open Reach UK, further enhancing your skills as you work within our team learning about and working with the best cloud phone system technology available in the UK.  

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining Hosted VoIP systems
  • Providing Tech Support
  • Understanding customer networks
  • Communicating effectively with suppliers such as Cisco
  • Updating customers within SLA’s
  • Providing high quality customer service
  • Basic project management
  • Logging and resolving customer faults remotely
  • Support in setup of phone systems and on-site phone system surveys

You will need the following skills:

  • Time management skills – meeting strict SLA’s
  • Delivering the best possible customer service
  • IT literate with IT skills such as understanding of basic networking
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • The ability to work well individually or as part of a team
  • Listen and provide solutions diligently and promptly
  • Ability to work within a team to achieve a common goal
  • Be humble and polite (very important)

Entry requirements

  • An A-Level in ICT
  • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT
  • OR an A-Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:

40 hours per week.

Future prospects:

92% of QA Apprentices secure full-time employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.
