UniformVehicle Technician Apprentices (Paint/Panel/MET/Multi-skill)

Nationwide's Vehicle Technician apprenticeships are ideally suited to individuals who are passionate about motor vehicles and wish to train within a hands-on role. This apprenticeship will specialise in: Vehicle MET and much of your training is completed on-the-job within the Bodyshop environment where you are assigned a mentor. You also attend college and other off-the-job training courses aimed at enhancing the skills you develop within the workplace.

These roles are very lucrative on completion of your apprenticeship and 2-3 years of experience and many of our technicians are earning an average of GBP35,000.

What we think good looks like

As an Apprentice we would like you to have an interest and passion in what we do. We would like you to have a keen interest in motor vehicles, which you should demonstrate on your application and CV. Ideally you will also have Maths, English and ICT GCSE's, or equivalent at a Grade C or above, although this is not essential. You must also have the ability to work as part of a team and have the determination to see your apprenticeship through to the end.

Another very important aspect of the job is teamwork as you will be working with other colleagues in the Bodyshop as well as across other functional areas.

Our selection process

Upon receipt of your application our Talent Team with match your application to the criteria of the role. If you are successful the Talent Team will then arrange a telephone interview so we can get to know you and your aspirations a little better. If everything goes well at the telephone interview stage we will arrange for you to spend a couple of days in one of our Bodyshops. This gives you the perfect opportunity to find out what its really like to work for Nationwide and the Bodyshop environment. It also provides you with the opportunity to meet the team and ask lots of questions. We want to make sure you are certain that you want to embark on the Apprenticeship journey with us. It also gives us the opportunity to see if you are what we are looking for so this is the time to make a good impression. If all goes well we will then arrange for the Apprenticeship Training Provider to send you an online link so you can complete your functional skills assessment. This involves and assessment of Maths, English and IT and takes approx. 20 minutes per assessment. It is critical that you complete this quickly, any delays will prevent you from joining us as we can't make an official offer until this stage is completed.

Once all the above has been completed we will arrange a start date for you and will enrol you on your Apprenticeship journey. We are hoping that your first course will start mid-April so it's important you get your application to us as soon as possible.

Whichever apprentice route you choose, you will be based at one of our state-of-the-art accident repair centres where you will have the close support of a team that will help ensure that your skill development is nurtured and encouraged.

I did the course at our Technical Training Centre in Goole which has a team of dedicated trainers just for Nationwide Team Members.
