Job summary

UHMBT and University of Cumbria are delighted to be offering this opportunity to join out organisation and start a career in nursing. This is a two year course and once you have successfully completed you will be a Nurse Associate (NA).

Following successful completion there may be further opportunity to continue your studies and apprenticeship to become a Registered Nurse (RN). This will be subject to performance, attitude and successful interview.

Joining us as an TNA (Trainee Nurse Associate) is a great way to become a NA and offers a lot of unique benefits. You will be fully supported through your journey. You will be paid in line with agenda for change trainee pay (Annex U 21 salary percentage - yr1 70% and yr2 75% of the top of band 4). If you already work for us , there may be opportunity for pay protection. You will be an employee of UHMBT receiving all the same benefits of your colleagues. The apprenticeship supplies you with a blend of "hand on" learning across our organisation to compliment the academic learning.

Please note the posts are available at Lancaster, Kendal and Barrow bases and placements will be cross bay.

Main duties of the job

We are a Teaching Hospital full of hard working and dedicated staff providing community and hospital services across the Morecambe area- an area covering a 10000 square miles across south Cumbria and north Lancashire.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) Lancaster and Westmorland General (WGH) Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom hospital and GP practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe and Ulverston Community health centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of general hospital services with full emergency department and Critical/ coronary care units and various consultants lead services.

WGH provides a range of general hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment centre, that can help with a range of non life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care, including outpatient, diagnostics, therapies, day case, inpatient surgery. In addition, a local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilitates from Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
