What will the apprentice be doing?

Our Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeships are aimed at people who have a passion for learning and innovation. Ambitious, innovative and determined people who respect our heritage and can think beyond the challenges of today to build the cars of tomorrow

Increasingly automated. Ever more sophisticated. This is the future our vision holds for our vehicles. As a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice, you will implement technology solutions, aligned to your pathway, to develop new products and services and increase productivity using digital technologies. Jaguar Land Rover is a world leader in engineering - we make incredible luxury vehicles. Our aspirations are no different for Digital & Technology. Our people, our teams and our culture are at the heart of everything we do. We are natives of the Agile and "DevOps" world and are here to solve complex technical challenges.

Software with Data Pathway

The automobile is becoming more and more reliant on software each year. Before the customer enters the car, it identifies the key fob and their phone to recognise them and allow access; during their journey, software aids their driving with stability and assistance systems and provides a welcoming and refined user experience through in-vehicle infotainment. As a result, you will continually enhance your expertise to create the millions of lines of code new innovations demand, translating data into demand and meeting our customers' needs by reinventing and rejuvenating our products and services.

As a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice on the Software with Data pathway, you could work within our Digital Products Platform (DPP), Engineering Quality (EQ) or Digital teams. You will be asked to indicate your preference during the application process. Please see website for more information.

Depending on the area tasks can include:
• Gain expertise in cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality-based user testing via multi-axial simulators (MAS)
• Gain the skills to diagnose and resolve complex vehicle issues and provide technical support into investigations
• Use application programming interfaces (APIs)
• Assist with the deployment, monitoring and support of our data platform and work with modern technologies in a public cloud environment
• Practise your scripting and programming skills

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As part of your apprenticeship, you will study for a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions with the University of Warwick (WMG).

Over the first three years of your apprenticeship, you will study a range of modules designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive as a technology professional. You'll contribute to the business in your assigned role, as well as undertake additional study in your own time, to achieve your academic award. A network of apprentice tutors and line managers will regularly review your progress and offer advice along the way, to support you in performing at your best.

Modules are taught in week-long blocks throughout the academic year by WMG, part of the University of Warwick. These will be a mix of lectures, practical laboratory assignments, seminars and tutorials delivered in person and online and you will also enjoy access to a virtual learning environment for further support.

In the final year, you will undertake a work-based project which also forms part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). On successful completion of your EPA, you will achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship - and will be ready for an amazing career with Jaguar Land Rover.
