What will the apprentice be doing?

The occupation is based upon a core set of outcomes that will be supplemented by one, and only one, of six specialism areas detailed below that cover the roles identified by employers.

Within this role you will:
  • Gather requirements from our Production representatives, who are working on an equipment improvement project
  • Work with our IT team implementing a technology solution to improve the Supply Chain Process
  • Gather data and analyse it for various project review/update meetings

UK Operations is the second largest manufacturing site in the Astrazeneca network and here we thrive in a high-tech and LEAN-based environment where we value collaboration and smart solutions that support our business needs.

As a Digital Lighthouse site we launch new technologies in collaboration with IT to support our key process areas as we move towards our Factory of the future vision.

We need great people who share our passion for technology led science, are driven, determined and hard-working. In return, we will support your formal and 'on the job' development, making the most of your skills and passion to help you in reaching your ultimate career aspirations

Our apprenticeship programme is designed to give you a broad understanding of our UK Operation Manufacturing functions, being involved in a variety of critical Digital activities and projects we are delivering, interacting with other key functional areas supporting Production, such as Quality, LEAN, UK Ops Data Team, and AZIT.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
  • In return for your drive, determination, hard work and dedication to AstraZeneca IT, we are delighted to be able to sponsor you through completing your Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital & Technology Solutions https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/digital-and-technology-solutions-professional-integrated-degree/ at Northeastern University - London through a 3-year programme
  • Training is delivered via blended learning, primarily online with some blocks of face-to-face learning in London
  • A degree apprenticeship combines full-time paid work with us and part-time university learning whilst being involved in real-life delivery, practical learning and getting paid

As well as this, you will be supported on a day to day basis with:
  • Opportunities to apply your learning in the workplace
  • Reasonable time out to attend university and study (during study leave)
  • Focussed objectives and goals for the duration of each rotation
  • Further development to support broader learning
  • Time with your line manager, mentor, buddy and Early Talent network

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
  • On successful completion, apprentices may apply for other positions at AstraZeneca
