Brief overview of the role
As an Apprentice Materials Technician you’ll be working out of the Precast facility in Avonmouth, Bristol, supporting the HS2 project by ensuring the quality of concrete segments used on the tunnels. You’ll push construction materials to their limits ensuring that they’re safe and reliable to use.
Through training and development provided, you’ll work towards excellence in the following areas:
- Working alongside other team members, testing the properties of fresh & hardened concrete, alongside concrete aggregates
- Undertaking maturity testing to predict concrete strengths
- Following testing methods to ensure safety and quality and to support the lab in maintaining its accreditation to operate
- Undertaking laboratory calibration and maintaining equipment to required standards as required by the Laboratory Manager
Potential career paths
The successful applicants can expect full training and support to provide competency and responsibility in carrying out testing and to help develop a career in laboratory testing. Not only that but the apprentice will have the opportunity to become a registered Science technician (RSci Tech).
Please note due to the nature of the role all applicants must be 18+ and have a driving license and access to a car.
