Job summary

We are excited to be be able to offer Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP) starting this March. We launched our CAPs Apprenticeship scheme in 2022 as part of developing the Psychological workforce and to support the wider NHS agenda to develop apsychological provision as part of the new roles.

The Apprenticeship is an 18 month full-time training programme divided between work-based practice and learning, and academic teaching and study. Once trainees successfully complete the apprenticeship requirements they will be awarded an MSc Clinical Associate in Psychology

This post is advertised as a full time Band 5 development position, with the plan to offer permanent roles on successful completion of the training. You will be supported to complete this training programme whilst working within the service. The continuation of your employment is dependent on successful completion of the training programme. On successful completion of the training, and the requirements of the role being demonstrated, you will have the opportunity to progress and slot into an Band 6 vacancy.

Once qualified, the CAP role is designed to fill an identified skills gap between assistant psychologist and qualified practitioner psychologists. They will be able to practice autonomously with appropriate support, working within their scope of practice, under the supervision of a registered and appropriately qualified psychologist.

Please note the post may close early depending on application numbers.

Main duties of the job

The training roles are developed within our new enhanced primary mental health service, and are offered in several locations within Hertfordshire.

The trainee role is based on practice based learning, with work being closely supervised by the qualified psychologist and therapists and work alongside the broader team.

Trainees will undertake 1:1 assessments and interventions and within these times there is a strong emphasis on group interventions.
