What will the apprentice be doing?
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The Level 6 Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship (Building Surveyor pathway) will lead to obtaining a RICS accredited degree and RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) which leads to your Chartered status. Our Building Surveying Apprentices undertake a part time honours degree at Portsmouth University over the course of 5 years. The current proposed start date for this course would be 6th September 2023.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon completion of the apprenticeship you will have fully Chartered surveyor status, and could progress your career within HCC.

GCSE or equivalent 3 GCSE's, any subject (Grade 9-4/A*-C) Essential

A Level or equivalent any 2 subjects (Grade Pass) Essential
Things to consider
Due to the training nature of the role, this will be office based in Winchester with option to use local drop in, and some homeworking and site visits and travel. A current driving licence or working towards one is a requirement of the role.
- Assist in designing small and medium scale projects, producing drawings and specifications
- Assist in the procurement and construction phase of extension and refurbishment projects
- Assist with undertaking surveys and inspections and producing reports
- Assist in the communication processes with clients, contractors, statutory consultees and internal departments' employees. Assist in co-ordinating the work and communicate with the many disciplines involved in the design team
- Prepare applications and liaise with Statutory Authorities - Building Control, Planning, HSE etc. to ensure full compliance of the project with current regulations, laws and standards
