What will the apprentice be doing?
Your day to day activities will involve learning about and assisting the commercial and contract management dept, to achieve financial performance targets and goals by optimising margin and protecting the company from commercial risk whilst supporting the project team to deliver these contracts.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will complete a level 6 Quantity Surveying Apprenticeship. You will attend university on a day release basis to complete the academic side of the qualification.
A BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying or equivalent Quantity Surveying Level 6 Diploma.
Knowledge and competence training as dictated by the standard.
Over a 5-year program, our apprenticeships combine academic college/university studies with real life work based experience across our organisation. You will have the opportunity to build and gather evidence of your competence whilst working towards a formal qualification.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Alstom offer opportunities to extend apprenticeship learning through to chartered status if the candidate is suitable and the business need exists.

A Level or equivalent 3 Subjects/ 120 UCAS points (Grade BBB) Essential
Your day to day activities will involve learning about and assisting the commercial and contract management dept, to achieve financial performance targets and goals by optimising margin and protecting the company from commercial risk whilst supporting the project team to deliver these contracts.
- Support with management of client accounts
- Assist in establishing contemporaneous records in compliance with projects systems which identify progress, delays and controlled change management.
- Support relationships and procedures
- Support the expansion of best practice with the commercial team
- Support with the administration of sub-contractor accounts from project sart up to final account including the administration of sub-contracted payments and issuing payment notices
- Commercial and contract guidance. Work with the commercial team to understand the key principles of construction contracts and their application
- Financial targets & budgets - provide support which aligns with the commercial management strategy, participating in the production of monthly project reviews and attend work
