What will the apprentice be doing?
  • The first year of the Programme will see you working alongside our Consultancy Engineering team, with opportunities to work with our other nuclear specialist teams
  • The Programme will enable shadowing of experts which will embed the theoretical engineering knowledge for those with an inquisitive mind and desire to learn something new.You will be involved with Engineering Design, Calculations and Stress Analysis
  • We'd love openness to the idea of travel, whether that be in the UK or internationally - when these opportunities arise, they can provide invaluable experience and networks for the future.
  • Our Nuclear Degree Apprenticeship programme is aimed at people who have a passion for learning, the motivation to achieve and can rise to different challenges. If you possess the behaviours for success, we can give you the skills and knowledge to reach new heights

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
  • This Apprenticeship Programme incorporates the Level 6 Nuclear Scientist and Nuclear Engineer Standard, which incorporates a BEng (Bachelor of Engineering) degree
  • The provider of the training will be Wigan and Leigh college, and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) award the degree qualification
  • College attendance will be 1 day per week
  • The IET accredit this Apprenticeship Standard

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
  • On completion of the apprenticeship, you'll be able to apply for professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) through an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution
  • The Apprenticeship Programme will enable you to specialise in an area of interest eg. Engineering, FEA Analysis, Transport (within the Nuclear Consulting Team)
