Production Engineering Apprentice Level 6 -Plymouth

What will the apprentice be doing?

• Concurrent engineering with Design Engineering to ensure products are designed for manufacture
• Development and integration of cost-effective, innovative and automated production lines
• Ensuring that the organisation's manufacturing processes comply with relevant policies and government laws and regulations
• Analysing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment placement to maximise manufacturing efficiency
• Analysing and reporting on production processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, availability of machines and waste management
• Reviewing and calculating the costs of the different tools and equipment in the production process and predicting the overheads in future production requirements
• Translating Engineering data and document into Manufacturing data and documents, to be used for production
• Evaluating quality control processes and making recommendations for improvements
• Coordinating maintenance and repair services to keep production equipment operational
• Making sure that staff follow the manufacturer's procedures and instructions while operating the equipment
• Overseeing the work of technicians and shop-floor personnel
• Establishing an effective work sequence

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

B.Eng in Professional Engineering (Manufacturing Engineer).

This will be completed with Aston University.

Training will be a hybrid model of attendance at University and online learning.

You will be given full training by experienced engineers at Alstom.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

• We expect that upon completion as long as there is still a business need that Apprentices will go into their first permanent role with Alstom

GCSE or equivalent 5 Subjects including Maths, English & Science (Grade 5 to 9) Essential
A Level or equivalent 3 subjects including a Maths based subject (Grade C to A) Essential
