What will the apprentice be doing?
We are currently looking for a children's residential support worker apprentice to work with children and young people with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties, mental health problems and / or complex needs between the ages of 8 and 18.
You will be required to work in partnership with the local/placing authorities, parents or carers and other agencies. The main focus of the job is to support the integration of the young people back into their parental homes or support them with their independence ready for adulthood.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be working towards the Children, young people & families practitioner (residential) apprenticeship standard
This level 4 apprenticeship training programme develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work with children, young people and families to achieve positive outcomes and sustainable change in their everyday lives.
It is suitable for residential care workers, support workers and other associated job titles.
At the end of this training programme, you will be also be awarded a Level 3 TQUK Diploma in Residential Childcare.

Job purpose:
- To provide day to day care of children and young people within an environment of pro-social learning that promotes positive attachments and relationships
- To support young people in maximising their potential in a safe and caring environment
- To achieve the highest standard of service delivery as measured by Ofsted against the Children's Homes National Minimum Standards
- Supervising children and young people before and after the school/college day including meal times and to proactively support/encourage the development of their cooking skills etc.
- To actively promote and participate in care planning, developing risk assessments, behaviour management and to attend regular team meetings
- Working as part of a team to provide a programme of evening & weekend activities for children and young people
- Promoting the social and emotional well-being & development of children and young people and to consistently strive to further develop these skills
- Accompanying children and young people on recreational activities and demonstrating positive role modelling
- To be a key member of the care team and has the ability to work within a team
