What will the apprentice be doing?

Responsibilities will vary and increase and evolve as you work through the apprenticeship, though initially you can expect to gain experience in general legal administrative work such as:
  • Legal contract management
  • Drafting correspondence
  • Answering client calls and attending client meetings
  • File opening and file closing
  • Preparing files and bundles
  • Legal research
  • Billing preparation
  • Photocopying and scanning

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will complete a Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship during which you will work towards gaining an LLB (Hons) in Legal Practice. In the final two years of the apprnticeship you will also prepare for and take the Solicitor Qualification Exams.

You will combine on-the-job training with guided, independent study and skills coaching delivered by the University of Law (ULaw). Four days a week will be spent working in one of our teams and one day will be allocated to study directed by ULaw. There is no obligation to attend ULaw's campus on your dedicated study day since all studying can be completed online.

The apprenticeship standard is based on the SRA's Statement of Solicitor Competence. Achievement of the standard and the associated apprenticeship assessment plan will satisfy the SRA's regulatory framework for qualification as a solicitor, subject to the SRA's usual tests of character and suitability.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This apprenticeship will take six years to complete, however after 4 years you will have obtained an LLB (hons) in Legal Practice.

At the end of your apprenticeship, subject to satisfactory character and suitability, you will be a fully qualified solicitor, registered with the SRA. Where possible we prefer to retain our apprentices as permanent employees within our business.
