The Opportunity
SMC are on the search for motivated applicants with a genuine enthusiasm for engineering and a drive for customer satisfaction. Based in Milton Keynes you will be working in our Sales Engineering Group who play a vital role in providing our customer base with comprehensive product support in all sectors of industry.
This is a diverse role that will provide many challenges but will also offer gratification in assisting personal and company growth.
Diversity is the key word for this role as you will be learning about areas such as technical support, marketing, training and general engineering tasks including product testing.
In the first year you will spend up to 3 days per week at a training provider (either Milton Keynes College or MAKE UK) undertaking your studies and will be work based the rest of the time
About you
You should be organised with the ability to manage your own time and workload. With an inquisitive mind to research, investigate and troubleshoot solutions for customers.
With good communication skills (written and verbal), you’ll also be adaptable and keen to develop your own and team performance.
You value the importance of good customer service and be at home in a collaborative working environment and tick that ‘team player’ box. Oh, and good timekeeping is a must!
Entry Requirements
You will have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades 4-9 (A-C) which should include Mathematics, English language and a Science or Technical subject at grade 6 or above.
Training provided
- Level 3 Engineering Technician with Technical Support Technician Pathway.
- Training with Milton Keynes College or MAKE UK (residential) – your choice!
- Ongoing support and training with SMC Duration: 42 months excluding end point assessment
Future prospects
SMC champion employee development and following successful completion of your level 3, would be happy to
support you on to a level 4 qualification to continue your development with a plan to successfully move forward in the business.
