What will the apprentice be doing?
To undergo training in the various disciplines of engineering found throughout WMG, including enrolling onto our placement programme. The programme covers advanced machining, additive manufacturing, metrology, mechanical testing, automation, electronics, battery manufacturing, battery abuse, battery recycling, laser processing/ welding, and general safe workshop practice. Apprentices will also learn about health and safety practices allowing them to operate carefully over their first 4 years.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Candidates will complete a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4) during the 4-year period. This will compile of Higher National Certificate (HNC) in relevant area, Foundation Competencies and vocational qualifications.
During time on site, apprentices will take part in a placement programme, giving them exposure and experience to all areas of
WMG's Electrification/Propulsion R&D activities, while also developing knowledge around the importance of health and safety.
Candidates without a Level 3 BTEC may be considered for an Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Possible opportunity to progress onto a Level 6 Apprentice after completion.
