What will the apprentice be doing?

To undergo training in various disciplines of engineering found throughout WMG. This includes enrolling onto our technical placement programme. The placements include advanced machining, additive manufacturing, metrology, mechanical testing, automation, nanocomposite materials, material processing and characterisation, laser processing/welding and fabrication. Apprentices will also learn about health and safety practices allowing them to operate carefully over their initial four years.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Candidates will complete a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4) during the 4-year period. This will compile of Higher National Certificate (HNC) in relevant area, Foundation Competencies and vocational qualifications.

During time on site, apprentices will take part in a placement programme, giving them exposure and experience to all areas of WMG's Materials and Manufacturing R&D activities, while also
developing knowledge around the importance of health and safety.

Candidates without a Level 3 BTEC may be considered for an Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Possible opportunity to progress onto a Level 6 Apprentice after completion.
