With over 270 destinations across the globe, our businesses not only bring people together but also support the prosperity of the regions in which we operate.

We’re all here on a journey ourselves, striving every day to help make air travel smoother, more seamless, connecting more people and goods with the world. As a team, we recognise the importance of what we do, supporting one another along the way. Together, we are the Journey Makers.

The role:
As an apprentice at MAG, you will have the opportunity to gain a diverse range of skills and experiences by rotating between our Network Support and Technical Operation teams, with a primary focus on Network Operations. You will be responsible for providing reactive support for any issues that are reported and using SolarWinds to assist with proactive support. Additionally, you will be a valuable technical resource for projects, playing a key role in the change and development of our company's infrastructure.

Your Learning:
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be awarded with a Level 4 qualification in Networking Engineering. Below are some of the things you can expect from this apprenticeship opportunity:

  • Provide reactive support and fix LAN/WAN, wireless network, and security infrastructure faults using established best practices and standards
  • Perform analysis on core network devices for capacity planning and proactively monitor the state of the data networks
  • Provide technical support for projects and play a key role in the change and development of MAG's infrastructure
  • Liaise with third-party support vendors, such as Microsoft and Cisco, to ensure that our company's infrastructure runs smoothly.
  • Configure and deploy network devices into production, performing detailed risk analysis for any changes
  • Maintain high level of support documentation and complete regular configuration backups

What are we looking for?
Overall, this apprenticeship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a wide range of technical skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Academically, you will have an A-Level in ICT (C or above) or similar. Other acceptable qualifications include International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT, Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject, Extended BTEC Diploma in IT (180 credits) or 1 Year + of working in an IT Support Role. To give you the best chance of succeeding in this role, we would like you to already have a basic understanding of network topologies and general IT troubleshooting skills.

We can provide the framework to develop me skills, knowledge and behaviours, however, you will need to come with drive, motivation and willingness to learn more about Infrastructure Operations.

What benefits can we offer?
Great benefits as you would expect from a business the size of MAG – in the shape of a competitive salary and benefits package including 6% company contribution pension, 24 days holidays plus bank holidays, free parking, subsidised public transport, and a huge range of company discounts. You’ll have plenty opportunities for career progression, experience on-the-job training and development and work in a supportive and friendly environment.
