What will the apprentice be doing?
Programme Management (PM) is at the forefront of what we in Lockheed Martin on a day to day basis, and the PM team are ultimately accountable for delivery against all of our UK commitments. The PM apprentice will have a unique opportunity to join the UK Maritime Team and gain a wealth of experience and knowledge from one of our busiest and most diverse portfolio of Programmes in the UK. You will have the opportunity to work on Programmes supporting Warships, Submarines, weapons systems, comms systems as well as gaining a full understanding of how we work with our US team on some huge and strategically important Programmes for the UK Navy. You will also gain knowledge of our Processes and Procedures and have the opportunity to be part of our governance meetings and gain insight into how we as an organisation work collaboratively across functions to deliver the capability that we commit to our end user.
Duties will include
Working alongside the PM team to ensure successful delivery of Programmes across the Maritime Portfolio
Working with the PMO team to ensure the tools and the information contained within them is accurate to support PM decision making
Supporting the collation of cost/schedule/performance information to feed into the overall Governance of the Programmes
Take ownership of some internal Projects to benefit the overall Maritime Business
Proactively managing risk across the Programmes and identify where funded mitigation activity may benefit the Programme to avoid cost and schedule impacts
Presentation of material to the Programme team and support meetings with the Havant Senior Leadership Team
Attendance and participation at customer meetings both in Havant and at Customer sites.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The Apprentice will be working towards gaining the Project Management Level 4 Apprenticeship. This role will support the achievement of this Apprenticeship along with the trainingprovided by the chosen Training Provider.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Lockheed Martin UK has a number of development opportunities open to Apprentices, including the opportunity to progress with a higher level apprenticeship.
