What will the apprentice be doing?

Day to day duties will include:
  • Guarantee Produce Performance Compliance and contribute to Product Robustness in the Plant
  • Executes assigned product design drawings and BOMs according to given technical specifications using dedicated tools in autonomy. Apply drawing rules, standards, product specifications, industrialisation internal rules and internal processes
  • Create, modify and validate BOMs and drawings of parts and sub-assemblies in accordance with technical specifications, customer expectations and supply chain constraints
  • Support the execution of verification and validation of design and prototypes in laboratories and the analysis. Provide technical solutions to customer issues and share reports to internal customers (with possible support)
  • Interact and work collaboratively with commercial and contract teams to review and clarify specifications and suggest improvements. Update local design documents and generate documents such as IOM manuals, instruction sheets and commissioning instructions

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The successful candidate will work towards achieving a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Standard including the following elements:
  • Level 4 HNC in Engineering or Manufacturing disciplines that fully align with the KSBs of the standard.
  • Portfolio of Evidence (Workplace Qualification)

Due to the higher mathematical content included within the Apprenticeship, the learner may be asked to do a Level 3 maths bridging unit before they start the Level 4 Apprenticeship.

All off-the-job training will take place at Derwent Training, Malton, YO17 6YG one day a week. This Apprenticeship will include a large proportion of self-directed study and research which is expected to be completed outside of classroom hours in order to meet assignment deadlines.
