Our opportunity

Join us as a Construction Management apprentice and from day one you'll be working with an experienced team and making an instant contribution to running a multi-million pound project. Construction Managers are responsible for the daily management and planning of every stage of a project ensuring that each phase of a build goes to plan.

What you will be doing

Construction Managers oversee schedules of work and delegate tasks to the team to ensure that each phase of the build goes to plan. The experienced and knowledgeable team will support your learning in;

  • Overseeing the logistical requirements of a project
  • Reviewing timings, budgets, labour, risk and project plans to ensure work stays on track 
  • Conducting site visits to inspect work and check materials 
  • Dealing with contracts and mitigating the impact of any issues 
  • Meeting with clients, third parties and other managers to report on progress

Our unique programme offers you the opportunity to live in Leeds on a block release basis for 9 weeks of the year (hotel accommodation provided and travel paid). Our 200 apprentices from across the UK come together at Leeds College of Building forming the perfect academic and social community to thrive. 

When you're not at college, you will be learning from industry specialists on one of our sites across the UK. 

You will work towards the Level 4 apprenticeship Construction Site Supervisor and technician membership of the Chartered Institute of Building.

A Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment.

Who are we looking for?

 

Academic Requirements

  • GCSE grade 5 (B) or above in Maths
  • GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in English Language
  • 3 additional GCSE’s grade 4 and above

and

  • 2 x STEM A-Levels

or

  • Relevant Level 3 Qualifications (e.g Civil Engineering, Construction in the Built Environment, Finance, Maths, Business)

 

 

Person Specification

  • Disciplined and able to manage degree level study and a busy job role
  • Highly numerate with an attention to detail
  • Able to adapt when priorities change
  • Desire to develop a career in the construction industry.
  • Happy to work on site and travel as and when required

 

Additional Requirements

  • Due to the project nature of our business, Apprentices must be willing to travel and stay away from home when necessary
  • As some of our projects are in remote areas, we also require all applicants to hold or be working towards gaining a full UK driving license before September 2023

    At BAM we are committed to investing in your development. Upon completion of our Level 4 apprenticeship, you will receive a promotion and the opportunity to progress on to our Degree programme. 

    After completing the full 5-year programme with BAM most of our apprentices have their full Degree, relevant professional membership and are earning in excess of £30,000 + car allowance or company car!
