What will the apprentice be doing?

Alvarez & Marsal's Restructuring & Insolvency practice is looking for highly motivated, personable, analytical, inquisitive and open-minded individuals to support in becoming qualified ICAEW Chartered Accountants (ACA) over a 4-year period. This programme is aimed at individuals who do not intend to go to university.

You will split your time between working on real client projects and studying for your Level 4 ICAEW CFAB Apprenticeship. You will be provided with both the professional and personal development opportunities you need to grow. You will be working in a close team of talented individuals, benefiting from personal coaching and mentoring from our team and ongoing support from the Early Career Manager and our Learning & Development Team.

Our team of experienced, qualified, insolvency practitioners has extensive experience in using insolvency processes to deliver restructuring solutions and maximising recoveries when insolvency becomes unavoidable.

As an apprentice within the insolvency team, you can expect to be involved with a wide breadth of assignments from:
  • Option analysis,
  • Contingency planning for a potential insolvency,
  • To formal insolvency appointments such as administrations.

The expectation is that on completion of your Level 4 Apprenticeship, subject to satisfactory performance, you will move on to complete further ICAEW ACA qualifications. The total programme length is 4 years.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Professional Accounting/Taxation Technician Apprenticeship Level 4

ACA Certificate will develop your accountancy skills and technical knowledge, so you continue to add value to your company. You'll achieve a globally-recognised qualification (CFAB), and gain a deeper understanding of accountancy and finance, and how it relates on a wider business scale. This level consists of six exams that introduce the essentials of accountancy, finance, and businesses. The six exams also make up a standalone qualification: the ICAEW CFAB (ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business).

The units are:
  • Accounting (AC).
  • Assurance (AS).
  • Business, Technology & Finance (BTF).
  • Law (LW).
  • Management Information (MI).
  • Principles of Taxation (PTX).

Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons or Live Online sessions. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate 20% of your time towards it.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
