An exciting opportunity to join our team within a growing ICT Services company with a global portfolio, as a Junior Onsite Support Engineer in our Client Service Delivery team based at Glasgow Airport for an initial 1 year fixed term contract.

Getronics supports its colleagues to become experts in their field though development on our learning platform Northstar and an internal recruitment program. As a Junior Onsite Support Engineer, you will be part of the Client Service Delivery team. The Client Service Delivery team provides operational support to a wide variety of customers.  You will work with the Getronics champion on site and will be a single point of contact between our customers, employees, and business partners. You will work towards a Level 6 IT Qualification

Role Purpose: 

Responsible for supporting a client’s desktop environment. This will include problem resolution, implementations, maintenance, testing, installations, moves and changes on all relevant hardware and software components in line with the client’s contract with Getronics. This role should utilise both remote operation facilities and deskside visits as appropriate. The role is based on customer’s premises and may include travel between sites within the specified region from time to time.

You will report directly to the Getronics Client Service Delivery Manager and will work closely with your colleagues on other sites and at Glasgow Airport to ensure that all tickets for all sites are resolved within contractual SLAs.

During your apprenticeship you will learn to:

  • Rebuild Laptops & Desktops Smart hands for internal resolvers Handle Hardware swap outs Do 1st line troubleshooting with end user, 1st line telephony support i.e replacing a handset & 1st line mobile phone support Server room checks to ensure rooms are clear and no obstructions that could lead to any issues Using the Configuration Management Database (CMBD) to upload data Doing Software & Hardware Installs Remote management of Desktops & laptops Assisting Senior onsite Engineers with any requests \ support they need Keep customer updated throughout the life of a ticket, ensuring satisfactory ticket resolution is achieved. Update Ticket Management System, clearly specifying progress and resolution details. Resolve problems in accordance with prescribed knowledge articles, process & procedures Demonstrate good communication skills with both colleagues & customers alike. Ensure communication is clear and effective and always keep colleagues and customers updated with progress on any work undertaken On-call is a requirement once full training has been complete and signed off

Skills/Experience

  • General ICT experience  Good Customer Service experience. Microsoft Windows operating systems. Effective problem solving Be prepared to undergo security checks
