What will the apprentice be doing?
Main duties:
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The apprentice would complete a HND or Foundation Degree which would provide the foundation stage of the knowledge elements in the competence qualification.
For the Development Phase the apprentice will build on their foundation knowledge by completing a BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) in Engineering. Here they will expand their understanding to a higher level and commence on specialised modules during the latter part of this qualification.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Opportunity of a full-time role upon the successful completion of the apprenticeship, subject to a permanent position being available.

AS Level or equivalent Science and/or Maths (Grade B-A) Essential
Things to consider
There will be periods of time away from the office performing practical use testing in the local vicinity.
Main duties:
- Contribute to test/product development engineers' compilation of test plans and procedures
- Organise and undertake test work in accordance with test plans
- Produce appropriate documentation of results and conclusions
- Specification, manufacture/outsourcing and maintenance of laboratory test rigs
- Ensure that all development and test areas are operated in accordance with company health and safety practices, with particular emphasis on housekeeping
- To seek out developments in technology likely to enable improvements in the cost/performance of the company's products
- Build prototypes
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The learner will be studying the Manufacturing Engineer (Degree) Level 6 Apprenticeship standard qualification
- Day release to West Suffolk College
- Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held
