What will the apprentice be doing?

The engineering team is made up of knowledgeable and experienced professionals that provide sound engineering advice to all of our customers and ensure that the plant and apparatus remains available, compliant and safe. We are looking to welcome an individual who is keen to apply their knowledge and gain experience in the application of electrical theory to further develop and innovate their offering to the business.
The successful candidate will work with the engineering team to become a valued addition to a dynamic and pro-active group of engineers.
Site information:
Sizewell A, based on the east Suffolk coast, is firmly on our decommissioning journey, with projects including stabilising the ponds, starting isolation of the turbine hall and upgrading waste facilities.
The decommissioning phase follows 40 years of operation, which finished in 2006, during which time Sizewell generated 110 terawatt hours of electricity.
An electricalengineer specifies and overseesmaintenance,testing, modification, design and installation of systems and equipment located on the site.The electrical engineersplay a key role in ensuring that theelectrical equipment on the site functions safely, efficiently & remains complainant with all statutory legislation.

Applicants must be aged 17 or over by 04.09.23 due to health and safety reasons and duty of care.
Electrical Engineer - Nuclear Scientist & Nuclear Engineer (integrated degree) Apprenticeship Standard Reference: ST0289 - Level 6
On completion of the apprenticeship, the nuclear scientist and nuclear engineer will hold a Bachelors (Honours) degree qualification.

Things to consider
There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. Due to the remote location of the sites, public transport availability is limited.

- Assist the engineering section head to ensure that site plant is maintained and is suitably safe, efficient and reliable
- Provide technical support for maintenance activities where required
- Provide technical support to current and future project design and implementation
- Provide technical input to ensure that plant performance and details of component defects are considered as part of the overall system or asset management and future investment

- National College for Nuclear, Cannington
- Length of training - 48 months
- Training will be delivered via block release
- Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment
