Data Technician (Capital & Business Information)

You’ll be working within the Project Management Office (PMO), supporting the efficient running of data control, reporting & systems functions and providing an excellent level of service to the project team and other stakeholders.

You’ll also be involved in providing evidence for huge capital investment and funding decisions, supplying insight into the health of projects and analysis that contributes to making robust decisions and providing the systems to make this possible.

What will I be doing?

As an apprentice, your two-year development programme will be made up of up to four placement rotations which will last approximately six months each.

Our aim is to equip you with the range of skills and experience you’ll need for a successful career. We also understand that everyone’s career is different, so every apprentice’s journey is unique. Here’s an idea of what yours could look like:

Placement 1 - Systems team – Creating and updating PMO SharePoint sites, designing and developing Microsoft PowerApps, integrating business data using Power BI dataflows.

Placement 2 - Data Control team – Uploading documents in their correct location on the relevant document management systems, using the relevant document management system to create document numbers, providing regular reports to the project team on the status of documents.

Placement 3 - Reporting team - Understanding central finance reporting and improvements to integration of Contact Centre reporting, improving the portfolio reporting requirements, developing the data integration and automation work piece.

Placement 4 – Business Services Function Reporting team - understanding central reporting for capital and operating finances and how this is used, Power BI report building & development using the end to end process, understanding data modelling and how it’s used for budgeting & forecasting.

Where can this career take me?

Upon successful completion of this scheme, you could roll-off into a Data Controller, Reporting Analyst or Systems Analyst role. This could lead to further career development opportunities such as Data Control Manager, Reporting Manager or Systems Manager.
