- Enter and extract report data, from SAP (financial), SystemsLink (utilities management software) and related systems in order to provide the business with accurate performance reports on a periodic and annual basis in relation to accruals, utility consumption, efficiency and recycling.
- Assist the Utilities Manager, the Environmental Manager, and the TfL central Environment team, with increasing TfL employee engagement on sustainability issues, including improving energy performance feedback and comms via Platform (our intranet) & Yammer.
Placement 2 – Operational Property utilities support

- Support the ongoing management and enhancement of SystemsLink (utilities management software) and associated systems (e.g. PowerBI) by pro-actively developing and implementing new reports, coordinating software upgrades, and organising training for other staff, ensuring it supports business requirements.
- Manage the metering data delivery and equipment call off contract to ensure new or replacement meters are installed across the whole portfolio to enable performance analysis and tenant recharging
Year 2
Placement 1 – Head office or Operational Property utilities support
- Responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of the I&S utilities processes, including management of all utilities data and invoices through the efficient use of SystemsLink (utilities management software) and related systems.
- Draft and produce business cases, following on site energy audits, along with appropriate financial and cost/benefit analyses, for the I&S team across relevant head office and operational buildings.
- Represent the I&S team at various internal meetings, seminars, briefings, functions and contract review meetings associated with utilities and wider Facilities Management contracts (if relevant/interested).
Placement 2 – Wider business operational areas opportunities
- Potential options to embed and support operational areas of the business to improve their management of utilities contracts and energy efficiency.
- Potential options to apply for placements from engineering, project management and general management schemes if the placement can provide the learning still required to demonstrate the Junior Energy Manager scheme standard skills, knowledge and behaviours
Where can this career take me?
- Upon successful completion of this scheme, you could roll-off into an energy manager role within TfL (as the wider operational business is looking to introduce these roles to help drive TfL to being a net zero business), which could lead to further career development opportunities such as chartered energy manager or any general management role within TfL or outside in the wider property community. Other potential roll-offs could include the level 6 Building Services Engineer apprenticeship scheme for those inclined to further their technical education and looking for a career as a chartered engineer.
