The primary role of an Apprentice is to provide technical support to project teams by undertaking specialist and technical tasks that support the overall objectives set by the Lead engineer. The main duties are to:
- To work effectively and contribute to engineering solutions by the correct use of resources and time. This includes an understanding of project management systems, tools and techniques as they are applied to the design and construction process
- Support proposal development and help deliver work-packages within projects
- Execute tasks to quality standards, to time and to budget
- Record and present information clearly
- Undertake block release to gain a BEng (Hons) in Railway Engineering
- Assist with on-site inspections and surveys where appropriate
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- You will be required to attend Sheffield Hallam University on block release for a total of 36 days per year
- The degree award is BEng (Hons) Railway Engineering
