About the apprenticeship
Duties
As a Retail Degree Apprentice, you'll need to be quick on your feet, dealing with our customers every day. Our Retail Degree Apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with University of Bradford (England) and University of Strathclyde (Scotland), allows you to work towards a degree while preparing for a brilliant management career within our unique food retail business. Not only do we pay all your course fees, but you also get to work and earn a £21,000 starting salary while studying!
Achieve a valuable degree and the start of a great career
Get an early taste of leadership when you take on responsibility for a team of colleagues within a department. You'll work across all areas of our stores, gaining an overview of its operations and systems. By the end of the three years, you could be a manager in one of our stores, with accountability for a range of departments. Show us real potential, and you could even progress onto our Store Manager Development Programme. Day-to-day tasks that you will be responsible for could include:
*Ensuring the store is set up to the best standard to drive sales and make for a smoother customer experience
*Leading teams to ensure that standards, regulations, and laws are met while trading
*Creating and reviewing team rotas to ensure sufficient staff during the day
*Supporting live business projects to develop your project management skills
*Learning about our store trading operations and systems
Additional information
While working with us, if in England, you'll also be studying towards a BA (Hons) Management and Business Degree at the University of Bradford. Balancing work and a degree course will be challenging. But we'll offer you at least half a day's leave a week to concentrate on your university studies. If you're based in Scotland, you'll be working towards a BA (Hons) Graduate Apprenticeship in Business Management with the University of Strathclyde.
As the fast-paced world of retail isn't 9-5, your role will involve some early starts, late finishes, night shifts and working weekends and Bank Holidays. It's hard work for sure. But it's also very rewarding. Every day is different, and we'll support you every step of the way. It's perfect for anyone who loves getting stuck in and thinking on their feet - could that be you?
Our apprentices get access to all our employee benefits, including MyPerks. This is a reward and benefits scheme that updates constantly with new and exciting offers. We can't tell you what you'll be able to use as they're updating all the time, but here's what we've enjoyed in the past:
*25% cashback on JustEat
*6% cashback on Ticketmaster
*Cinema tickets from £4.80
We have nearly 500 friendly stores in our local communities, and they have never played a more important role in our customers' lives than they do right now as we continue to feed the nation. You can play a key role in making an impact on your community as a Retail Degree Apprentice!
