What will the apprentice be doing?
  • You will have the opportunity to work as part of the wider interdisciplinary team which includes: Architects, Building Services, Design Management, Interior Design, Landscape and urbanism.
  • The successful applicants will work as part of our design team, our current projects cover a wide range of building types such as offices, schools, hospitals and laboratories buildings and historic buildings.
  • Alongside your training at university you will be taught how to use computer modelling packages such as Revit, Tedds and Tekla Structural Designer.
  • Attend meetings both in the studio and on site.
  • Partake in internal and external training sessions and go out to visit construction sites.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
  • Qualification you will achieve is: BEng Degree and also IEng (Incorporated Engineer) with the Institute of Civil Engineering.
  • You will attend: Univerity of Salford.
  • Training type: One day a week, remaining four days in the studio.
  • You will be based at: BDPs Manchester Studio, Piccadilly Basin, M1 2JB.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Opportunity to continue your training and progress to Chartered status. We are looking for someone who wants a career with BDP.

BTEC or equivalent Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship (Grade Level 3) Desired

Things to consider

A design engineer will be mainly office based and working on design drawings using packages, that will be taught, in Revit, Tedds, BIM and Tekla Structural Designer.
