What will the apprentice be doing?

As long term, fundamental investors, we are committed to strengthening our investment activities through integration of environmental, social and governance factors (ESG). Companies compete in a fast changing world in which their abilities to adapt to social and environmental change are becoming increasingly important to their profitability and values. We are committed to building the leading research and investment process that embeds understanding of these trends across the funds we manage.

The role sits in the Sustainability team which has expanded to 59 people, covering a wide range of activities from thematic research, sustainability modelling, portfolio monitoring, screening, corporate governance actions, company engagement, client communication and marketing and discussions with policy makers and other stakeholders. Our primary focus is working with analyst and fund manager colleagues to strengthen investment decisions through effective analysis and integration of sustainability issues in investment processes.

Some of the tasks and projects you'll be involved in are:
  • Support the ongoing publication of research and newsletter, maintaining pipeline, distribution lists, providing copy editing and ensuring consistency across our output
  • Help prepare PowerPoint presentations for research meetings, ad hoc client meetings, and desk sustainability teach-ins
  • Learn about how the world works, investigate new and emerging issues, and gather relevant data to support research on these topics
  • Help respond to ad hoc queries from internal teams
  • Keep the intranet pages for the team up to date with internal resources and FAQs
  • Team event and administrative support, including organising agendas and taking minutes

In addition to the accredited qualification, (Corporate responsibility and sustainability practitioner, Level 4), you'll study towards, some of the other training and development opportunities offered over the programme include:
