What will the apprentice be doing?

Alvarez & Marsal Taxand is looking for highly motivated, analytical, inquisitive and numerate individuals to support in becoming a dual qualified ICAEW Chartered Accountant (ACA) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), study will begin with the level 4 CFAB qualification.

Due to continued business growth and investment in building our team, apprenticeship opportunities are available for those interested in becoming a Tax Advisor to a wide variety of clients from large companies to tech start-ups and privately managed businesses. This programme will take place over a 5 year period for the dual qualification and is aimed at individuals who have decided not to go to university.

Throughout the 5-year programme, successful candidates will have the opportunity to:
  • Gain practical experience in different specialisms of Tax on a rotation basis,
  • allowing individuals to gain a better understanding of the various tax compliance and advisory paths open to them on successful qualification.
  • By going through this Tax rotation programme, A&M gives you the opportunity to try all areas of Tax and to find your niche rather than being pigeonholed too soon in your career.
  • The programme will offer you variety and an opportunity to challenge yourself and your skills.

You will be provided with both the professional and personal development opportunities you need to grow. You will be working in a close team of talented individuals, benefiting from personal coaching and mentoring from our team.

We will support you through your training to become both a qualified ICAEW Chartered Accountant (ACA) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and from your first day in the office you will be involved in providing commercial and practical tax advice to our clients and expanding your own knowledge and skillsets.

The programme is run as a 5 year programme, with the expectation that after 4 years you will have completed your level 7 ICAEW ACA Apprenticeship and the final year will be completing your CTA.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Professional Accounting/Taxation Technician Apprenticeship Level 4 ACA Certificate will develop your accountancy skills and technical knowledge, so you continue to add value to your company. You'll achieve a globally-recognised qualification (CFAB), and gain a deeper understanding of accountancy and finance, and how it relates on a wider business scale. This level consists of six exams that introduce the essentials of accountancy, finance, and businesses. The six exams also make up a standalone qualification: the ICAEW CFAB (ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business). The units are: Accounting (AC). Assurance (AS). Business, Technology & Finance (BTF). Law (LW). Management Information (MI). Principles of Taxation (PTX). Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons or Live Online sessions. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate 20% of your time towards it. You will then move on ...
