Qualifications
A Level or equivalent Technology, Engineering, Math (Grade B or Above) Essential
The Apprentice Quantity Surveyor shall:
- Assist in preparation and submission of project interim valuations.
- Assist in preparation and submission of variation / compensation event claims.
- Assist in preparation of interim cost reports including P/L report.
- Assist in preparation of costs to complete forecast and final revenue forecast.
- Assist in preparation and issue of subcontract documents.
- Assist in re-measure of BoQ items and subcontractors.
- Assist in issue of subcontract payment notifications.
- Accompany the QS in meeting with and Payment of subcontractor / subcontractor accounts as and when required.
- Assist in preparation and submission of Final Account to Employers Representative. Accompany the QS in Liaising with Employers Representative with regards to anticipated Final Account figure.
- Assist in reporting on buying gains/losses including the reporting of any future potential financial problems.
- Assist in negotiation of rates/prices with LO subcontractors
- Assist in reviewing recovery against subcontractor's work.
- Assist in the periodically reviewing of any disruption the variation work has had on site progress with Site Manager.
- Accompany the QS to attend regular progress / commercial meetings with Client and Design Team.
- As required assist with the measure of quantities for tendering purposes
- Assist in the preparation and updating cash flow/expenditure / budget profiles.
- Assist in the periodically review projects with Contracts Manager/ Director.
- Learning how to carry out value engineering calculations in conjunction with Site Manager
- Liaise closely with on site management on a day to day basis.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The Apprentice will work towards the RICS APC over the duration of their apprenticeship enrolling in year 3 and taking the RICS APC final assessment as their end point assessment, this will lead to achieving full chartered surveyor status.
- The role will allow you to access on and off the job training, providing a fantastic platform to gain knowledge and practicalexperience.
- Applicants for this course will need to meet the standard BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management entry qualifications:
- A-levels - BBB; or T-level Merit overall grade
- BTEC Extended Diploma - DDM; or
- 120 UCAS Tariff points from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications; and
- GCSEs - English and Maths grade C / 4.
- Applicants applying without A-levels will have their qualifications assessed for subject compatibility. - All successful applicants must meet the criteria for Apprentices set by the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
