What will the apprentice be doing?

Hear from the Hiring Manager

"Magnox is an organisation which is responsible for sustainable decommissioning of the fleet of Magnox Stations and nuclear research facilities, and soon will also include decommissioning of Dounreay and the UK's Advanced Gas-Cooled Reactors as these stations complete their operational and defueling lifecycles.

Magnox needs to increase, and continue to strengthen, its core project management capability to deliver this mission. This opportunity is for Project Management Apprentices who will be based at Dungeness and play a key role in the delivery of complex decommissioning projects within the fleet of Magnox sites. They are our leaders of tomorrow, and as such will display excellent teamworking and collaborative behaviours.

Our projects range from dismantling or demolishing aging assets, to building new facilities, to the development of bespoke radiological waste retrieval and packaging systems. No project is the same. All our work is challenging, becoming more so as we endeavour to introduce more sustainable ways of working into project delivery.

Due to the nature of the work, you'll need to be flexible in terms of working at a Magnox site, particularly during execution. You may also work on projects based at sites other than your local site, giving you exposure to a diverse range of projects and stakeholders.

Based at our Dungeness site, the successful candidate will undertake a level 6 (integrated degree) apprenticeship in project management. The academic and theoretical knowledge learned from university and self-study will be put into practice on-the-job. This knowledge, blended with guidance, opportunities, and experience offered will allow you to form skills and behaviours (capabilities) at a professional level in Project Management.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be eligible to become a full member of Association for Project Management (APM), the Chartered Body for the Project Profession."
