Things to consider
You will be required to complete extra-curricular activity outside of your normal work and education to enable completion of your development plan, examples include attending residential training and development weeks.
Vacancy description:
- The role will concentrate on the electrical system design of a variety of specialised vehicle and trailers manufactured by the group
- This will involve researching requirements and industry best practice to develop specifications for installations to enhance the overall vehicle performance for the customer and environment
- Liaising with supplier base to analyse component options to best meet needs and drive change
- Understanding relevant legislation and ensuring design and assembly are fully compliant
- Transforming concepts into prototypes for testing, validating and improvement; ultimately for volume production
- Consideration of methods of manufacture, assembly, test and service to improve efficiency and quality
- Managing a variety of concurrent tasks and projects so they may be tracked and progress ensured
Key responsibilities:
- Understand customer, business and regulatory demands to develop system specifications
- Benchmark best practice, state of the art and future trends to maintain industry leading performance
- Apply lean skills to create flexibility in specification and efficiency in stock holding
- Testing solutions to ensure compliance with specification developed and quality of end product
- Recording of system design including DC and AC system architecture
- Make and track changes to existing product in line with company procedures
- Control Bill of Materials related to electrical systems and assist supply chain
- Develop appropriate methods of assembly to ensure quality and meet health and safety requirements
- Define QC procedures for thorough testing of installation as required
- Maintain records of task status for management of performance and development of personal development portfolio to evidence work based learning
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- You will be required to attend Sheffield Hallam University on day release
- The degree award is BEng (Hons) Electrical & Electronic Engineering
