About the apprenticeship

Duties

To work with and be supervised by an experienced roofer on new housing developments throughout Wales. You will be supervised . To attend college training sessions in Walsall, Birmingham in 2 week blocks over 18 months. Comply with site PPE and health and safety.

THE TRAINING WILL CONSIST OF BLOCKS OF TRAINING OVER A 2 YEAR PERIOD AT COLLEGE ALONG WITH WORKING WITH AN EXPERIENCED ROOFER ON SITE. LEADING TO A NVQ LEVEL 2. YOU WILL BE CONTINUALLY ASSESSED ON EACH MODULE TO ENSURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING AND TO GATHER EVIDENCE THAT YOU CAN CARRY OUT THE TASKS REQUIRED. FURTHER DETAILS WILL BE PROVIDED ONCE TRAINING BEGINS OF EACH TASK AND MODULE. YOU WILL NEED TO SIT AND PASS THE CSCS TEST BEFORE STARTING EMPLOYMENT TO ENABLE YOU TO WORK ON SITE. PAY RATE VARIES WITH MIN WAGE/APPRENTICE RATE WHAT EVER IS HIGHER

Qualifications

IDEALLY GCSE AT GRADE E TO D OR ABOVE IN ENGLISH AND MATHS ARE REQUIRED AS YOU WILL NEED COMMUNICATION, READING AND WRITING SKILLS ALONG WITH BASIC MATHS FOR CALCULATING DIMENSIONS ON THE ROOF. HOWEVER THE COLLEGE WILL HELP WITH ANY AREA THAT YOU NEED SUPPORT ON.
