The successful apprentice will use CAD software to design prototype models of plastic packaging for food, confectionery, cosmetic and promotional items. They will create samples using resin moulds and then programme and operate the machine. As they develop their knowledge of materials and processes, they will eventually start to meet new clients.

The successful apprentice will:

Requirements and prospects Desired skills
  • Experience of using Solidworks would be an advantage but is not essential.
Personal qualities
  • Candidates must have a keen interest in CAD.
  • You must be a problem solver with good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
  • You must be a quick learner, practically minded and versatile.
  • The employer is looking for someone who can contribute new ideas to the business.
Qualifications required

The entry requirement for the Higher Apprenticeship is 280 UCAS points, e.g. grades BBC at A-Level or DMM at BTEC. You must have at least Grade C in GCSE Maths and English.

Future prospects The employer is very committed to the training and development of all staff, including apprentices.

Things to consider It is not easy to complete a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4 & 5) while working full-time. We are looking for candidates who are academically capable and career-minded, with a strong work ethic.
