What will the apprentice be doing?

First Place Nurseries provide a stimulating, happy and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to reach their full potential through learning and play.

They are looking for a level 5 apprentice to join their team and develop their management skills whilst taking on key responsibilities in the nursery. Its a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious practitioner, as you will be nurtured and supported every step of the way.

Personal Responsibilities
  • To deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and any other appropriate guidance for young children in accordance with nursery policy and guidelines
  • Observe each child's progress and report on
    achievements, looking for progression and continuity alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To assist the room manager in ensuring that your own key children profiles and those of your staff are up to date and maintained at the required quality level
  • Plan and deliver high quality activities and experiences for children that offer suitable challenge and are based on the children's interests
  • Assist children with personal care, including changing nappies, assisting with toileting and other associated welfare duties
  • Ensure you have a completed and up to date care plan for each child in your room
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers, recognising that parents are their children's first educators, and encourage parental involvement in the nursery
  • To assist the room manager in ensuring that risk assessments for your room and other areas for which you are responsible are carried out in accordance with nursery policies and at the correct time and frequency

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. First Place Nursery will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day. You will be working towards the Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes: • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours • Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Lead Practitioner Standard • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required) This will be delivered through First Place Nursery's dedicated training provider, Realise. Realise is an established training provider that's enjoying an exciting period of growth following a management buyout and rebrand in late 2020.
