What will the apprentice be doing?
An Apprentice Quantity Surveyor Estimator/ Material buyers role will typically be:-
Quantity Surveying.
You will gain experience in the principles of measurement for building projects and assist with onsite measuring.
On this 5-year chartered surveyor BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying degree apprenticeship, you will spend 1 day a week at university studying for your degree and the other 4 days working with Darcy Construction.
You will also incorporate detail learning and you will develop knowledge and some understanding in areas such as
and practice, project management, problem solving, valuation, procurement, and contract administration dispute resolution.
By the end of your apprenticeship, you'll be able to confidently tackle the social, economic, and technical issues around construction projects of various sizes from the minor works projects to projects circa £2m. You will get to put the skills you learn to work instantly in your job and contribute to the success of your company.
This degree is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) so what you learn on the course is relevant to the industry.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
When you graduate, you will have the academic and work-based experience that you need to register for the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). Upon passing the APC, you will be a Chartered Surveyor.

- Gain expertise in digitized take-offs using Bluebeam Revu.
- Gather quotations from suppliers and sub-contractors. Helping prepare bids for new contracts.

You will work with the site team to
- obtain quotations from Suppliers,
- undertake material comparisons,
- negotiate with material suppliers and
- place orders for current projects.
