What will the apprentice be doing?
Job Purpos:
To ensure that the technical Audio-Visual (A/V) infrastructure installed across the University's various classrooms, lecture theatres, meeting rooms and similar is maintained, and provide a structured response and resolution to A/V related incidents & requests. The apprentice will undergo training to enable them to carry out the duties as described below:
Provide an effective and responsive incident and request management support service for facilities where fixed A/V equipment is installed, in line with the requirements of departmental service level agreements (SLAs).
Such as:
Help troubleshoot faulty A/V installs and assist with any remedial steps identified,following documentation or appropriate training. Such as:
Use range of web-based dashboards and monitoring tools to remotely investigate problems or issues with installed AV equipment attached to DMU's network and help determine a method of resolution.
Assist in the provision of and induction/training of DMU staff in the use of A/V equipment installed in teaching spaces.
Help ensure stores and office spaces are kept tidy and organised.
Assist with stock checks of the A/V equipment within A/V spaces and stores, ensuring the ITMS Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is kept accurate and up-to-date. Performing actions such as:
Ensure the completion of tasks as allocated by line management and referred to by the ITMS Service Desk in accordance with agreed priorities and service levels. Maintain up-to-date records on progress. To assist in the development of a culture based on Continual Service Improvement.

For the right candidate, upon successful completion of the apprenticeship there would be an opportunity to apply for any available and relevant posts available within DMU.

Things to consider
This position is required to work on our DMU campus 5 days per week.
Job Purpos:

- AV system not turning on, or not switching inputs
- Digital screen or projector not showing an image
- No audio to the room
Help troubleshoot faulty A/V installs and assist with any remedial steps identified,following documentation or appropriate training. Such as:
- Change configuration of A/V hardware around campus
- Remove and replace A/V hardware
- Visit A/V spaces and carry out test and checks
Use range of web-based dashboards and monitoring tools to remotely investigate problems or issues with installed AV equipment attached to DMU's network and help determine a method of resolution.
Assist in the provision of and induction/training of DMU staff in the use of A/V equipment installed in teaching spaces.
Help ensure stores and office spaces are kept tidy and organised.
Assist with stock checks of the A/V equipment within A/V spaces and stores, ensuring the ITMS Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is kept accurate and up-to-date. Performing actions such as:
- Create new hardware items, including product details and images
- Create new asset items & link to new or existing products
- Updating existing item location details on the CMDB
Ensure the completion of tasks as allocated by line management and referred to by the ITMS Service Desk in accordance with agreed priorities and service levels. Maintain up-to-date records on progress. To assist in the development of a culture based on Continual Service Improvement.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Level 5 Audiovisual standard will be delivered
- Training will be online on a weekly basis
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
