What will the apprentice be doing?

An opportunity to interact with like-minded individuals of differing engineering disciplines on products and play a key role in new product development. Example work includes - but not limited to - cost value analysis of existing product to reduce cost and simplify design, production cell optimisation (kaizen), fault-finding and problem solving (especially in production), mechanical component design for new products. This role offers varied experiences with many challenges to expand and learn from.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will achieve a B(Eng) Mechanical Engineering (Hons) Degree, studying one day a week at the University of Chichester (Bognor Regis Campus) during each academic year.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Due to the size and global nature of Parker, excellent opportunities for progression exist, both within the growing Parker Condition Monitoring business unit but also the wider corporation.

GCSE or equivalent at least 5 subjects including English and Maths (Grade 6+) Essential
A Level or equivalent at least 3 subjects including Maths (Grade C+) Desired
BTEC or equivalent relevant subjects or Apprenticeship at Level 3 (Grade Pass+) Desired

Things to consider

We are seeking someone with a scientific or engineering background who can offer experience of broad practical hands-on skills for fault-finding, modification and prototype/test bench creation; knowledge and understanding of product lifecycle and CAE; and who has proven ability to learn new technologies. Relevant work experience, including customer-facing experience, will also be taken into account in assessing applications. You need to be a strong team player with strong communication skills, and a willingness to travel to other sites when required and to University on a weekly basis. Possession of a driving licence is desirable.
