What will the apprentice be doing?
As a civil engineering apprentice in our Transport Planning team, you will assist in the development of designs and production of drawings through different phases of design, preparation of specifications and reports in Highways design. You will be trained in the use of software engineering tools such as AutoCad to ensure our team have a full set of design skills. Where practical, you'll get the opportunity to visit site and see the projects you're working on, coming to life.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will attend Teeside University to study Civil Engineering degree apprenticeship and gain a Level 6 qualification, as well as completing your End Point Assessment (and Incorporated Engineer status) with the Institution of Civil Engineers. You will also be enrolled onto a bespoke internal development programme to help you to attain the knowledge, skills an behaviours to successfully achieve your apprenticeship, and support your career in civil engineering.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
As this is a permanent position, after gaining your degree, WSP will continue to be committed to your learning and development throughout your career with us. You will have the opportunity to work towards gaining Chartered status with your chosen institution, as well as the opportunity to pursue your further study and training goals.
