What will the apprentice be doing?
You will be supporting all software applications within the college. You will do this in various ways. These will include:
You will gain a deep understanding of Microsoft 365 applications, including all Power Platform tools and SharePoint. You will learn MS SQL in detail and other supporting languages will be taught on the apprenticeship framework.
Not only will you work in a dynamic and forward-thinking team, you will have a customer-facing role supporting all aspects of digital support at the college.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Apprentices must achieve one internationally recognised vendor or professional qualification and also a knowledge module. SGS has elected to deliver the on-programme learning using the combination listed below.
Professional Qualification Knowledge Modules:
BCS Systems Development essentials
BCS Software Language
These must both be passed before the end point assessment can take place.

A Level or equivalent Qualification or experience (Grade A Level) Desired
NVQ or SVQ Level 3 or equivalent Qualification or experience (Grade Level 3) Desired
Things to consider
Having the right attitude, work ethic and commitment to your education as well as your employment are essential requirements to this role. A level 3 qualification in IT systems, software development or similar qualification would be preferable. In addition, those leaving A levels with maths or science is also preferable. You will work mostly at our Bristol sites, with the opportunity to work from home occasionally. You will need to pass an enhanced background check (DBS).

- Writing code
- Administering systems
- Working with databases
- Creating analysis tools
- Plus many more software related activities
You will gain a deep understanding of Microsoft 365 applications, including all Power Platform tools and SharePoint. You will learn MS SQL in detail and other supporting languages will be taught on the apprenticeship framework.

- Software developer Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard
- You will complete the software developer apprentice standard at Level 4
- You will attend the Filton Campus of SGS College on a Thursday, term time only
