Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners to join our team of ACPs and trainees in Acute Medicine at Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust. The posts will be based across all areas of Acute Medicine. You will initially be allocated a base at either Scunthorpe General Hospital or Diana Princess of Wales Hospital Grimsby, however you must be prepared to work across the Trust (three hospital sites include Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole) subject to service needs.

We are looking to hear from registered healthcare professionals who are critical thinkers and have a passion for transforming care. You must have a professional registration which gives you the ability to prescribe as you will be undertaking non-medical prescribing as part of the MSc Advanced Practice Apprenticeship at the University of Hull.

You will develop skills in the clinical assessment and management of patients presenting with acute and undifferentiated conditions to either enable discharge, referral or admission. You will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, working closely alongside medical, nursing and AHP teams.

Main duties of the job

Support and supervision is key to the success of the ACP role and you will be allocated a consultant supervisor for the duration of your training. During years 1 and 2 of the training period hours of work will cover Monday to Friday 8am to 10pm. In year 3 you will become a supernumerary part of the junior medical rota. Training will cover all areas of acute medicine, to include the acute medical unit, ambulatory care unit and the medical short stay ward. You will also be encouraged to spend time in other specialties to expand your knowledge and skills, and rotation into Critical Care will be facilitated in year 2.

Upon successful completion of your MSc Advanced Practice Apprenticeship and the in-house capability packages you will progress to Agenda for Change Band 8a. Working hours will then include 24 hour rotation, subject to service needs.

If you are looking for a challenging yet rewarding position we would welcome your application. We are looking for individuals who have significant post-qualifying experience and have the drive, ambition and positivity to make this role succeed.

Please note that to complete an apprenticeship learners must have English and Maths at GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent).
